KITV: Goodwill Hawaii to host first annual Goods Giving Saturday drive

HONOLULU (Island News) — Goodwill Hawaii is having the first annual Goods Giving Saturday on Nov. 23 at three of their donation locations.

The donation event will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. As a way to thank donors for supporting the local nonprofit organization, $6,500 in Aloha Gas cards, Car Wash 808 Express tickets and Popeyes Hawaii promo cards will be given away. This takes place at the Kapolei, Kaimuki and Windward City Shopping Center Goodwill locations. Diamond Bakery Hawaii will be offering cookies and there will be entertainment by local celebrities.

“We wanted to do something to give back to the community who has supported us for more than 65 years and are grateful to our partners who donated the prizes that we’ll be gifting to our donors,” said Goodwill Hawaii president and CEO Katy Chen.

During Goodwill’s End of the Year campaign, their goal is to collect 150,000 boxes/bags of donations. This campaign starts with Goods Giving Saturday on the 23rd and ends on Jan. 5, 2025.

Anyone who visits Goodwill’s donation locations on Oahu and the Big Island during that time period will receive a 10% off coupon for Popeyes Hawaii. The coupon can be used at any Hawaii location through Jan. 31, 2025.

What keeps Goodwill operating throughout the state at 13 stores are donations of pre-loved clothing and household goods. The revenue received is reinvested back into the local community and funds free job training, education and placement services for thousands of Hawaii residents every year. Last year, Goodwill Hawaii was able to help more than 500 residents statewide find jobs in the community and earn a total of $14.5 million in annual wages.
