GOODWILL HAWAII APPOINTS NEW CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Goodwill Hawaii recently named Brent Arakaki as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) effective March 1, 2021. As CFO, Arakaki will be in charge of the financial responsibilities for the organization, which is comprised of four entities including 501c3s Goodwill Industries of Hawaii, Goodwill Contract Services of Hawaii, and Kapolei Charter School. He will also oversee the Information Technology (IT) and Risk Management departments and functions.

“We are excited to have Brent on board as he brings a fresh outlook and breadth of experience from the hospitality and retail industries to our organization, especially at a time when there is an increasing need for our employment services,” said Goodwill Hawaii president & CEO Katy Chen. “I look forward to working with Brent to identify emerging financial opportunities and resources that can help us to continue expanding our infrastructure statewide in order to reach and serve more people.”

Before joining Goodwill, Arakaki was most recently the Director of Finance & Accounting for Marriott International/formerly Starwood Hotels & Resorts where he worked closely with hotel department heads to improve productivity and profitability, among other financial management responsibilities.

“Goodwill’s job training and employment programs have and will continue to play an important role in the state’s economic recovery, and I’m honored to be part of a well-established organization that is truly making a difference in people’s lives,” Arakaki says.

Arakaki received a BA in business administration with a focus on accounting from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He is a member of the Hawaii Society of Certified Public Accountants.
