GOODWILL HAWAII TO CELEBRATE GRAND OPENING OF NEW KONA STORE THIS SATURDAY, NOV. 19

GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION SET FOR SATURDAY, NOVember 19

HONOLULU – Goodwill Hawaii recently relocated its Kona Store & Donation Center to a new and improved location at the Luhia Center and will be hosting a Grand Opening celebration on Saturday, November 19 featuring free gift cards and tote bags for the first 100 shoppers (18 years and older).

“We are excited to welcome the community to our new Kona Store and Donation Center, which is an upgrade from our previous location and features air conditioning, ample parking and a separate donation drop-off door,” said Goodwill Hawaii president and CEO Katy Chen. “The investment in this new location is part of our three-year strategic plan to enhance our donor and customer experience in order to generate additional revenue for our programs and services on Hawaii Island. We are especially committed to increasing our impact on Hawaii Island and helping more people who are in need across the island.”

Supported by the revenue generated in stores, Goodwill provides free job training, education, financial literacy and support services for more than 2,500 Hawaii Island disadvantaged residents each year, including low-income families, people transitioning out of incarceration, adults with disabilities, at-risk youth, and more. The goal is to help them find work and/or earn higher paying wages and increase their financial independence.

The Kona Store and Donation Center grand opening event will begin at 9:30 am. In addition to free gift cards for the first 100 customers, there will also be complimentary refreshments and a live DJ. Goodwill Hawaii is set to open a fourth store and donation center on Hawaii Island at the Waikoloa Plaza next month. The nonprofit organization also has attended donation centers at the Keauhou Shopping Center in Kailua-Kona and at the Island of Hawaii YMCA in Hilo.
