– The six-month certificate program starts in May –

Goodwill Hawaii is seeking people interested in pursuing an IT career to enroll in a FREE six-month Google IT Support Professional Certificate program starting in May 2020. The program, being offered in partnership with Google.org and Coursera, is designed to prepare students for an entry level position in IT support. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma.

The online program features virtual courses and interactive labs that will equip students with the IT skills needed to succeed in the highly competitive workforce, including an introduction to troubleshooting, customer service, networking, operating systems, systems administration, automation and security. Upon completion of the curriculum, students will receive a certificate and assistance with job placement and career advancement services from Goodwill.

“We are excited for the opportunity to partner with Google to bring this first-of-its-kind IT certificate program to Hawaii,” said Emily Lau, Goodwill Hawaii’s Vice President of Mission Services. “The program aligns with our mission and current strategic goals of helping community members to gain the training and skills needed to advance their careers and earn higher paying wages.”

The Google IT Support Professional Certificate curriculum is part of Goodwill Hawaii’s new Career Readiness and Education Development (CRED) program, providing education, training, resources and support to help individuals advance their career. Through partnerships with Goodwill Industries International, Aloha United Way and Google, the community can also access a Virtual Learning Platform with free trainings covering topics from email to Microsoft Word, money, communication, business and technology. Goodwill Hawaii assists more than 10,000 people statewide each year with employment, educational, financial literacy and social services.
